Welcome to Infant Swings, where we help provide you some information about the best infant swings to help soothe and relax your baby.
Hi my name is Anna. I am a wife, pediatric ER nurse, Zumba instructor and mother to 3 children; a 2 month old girl, and 2 and 4 year old boys. In 2015 when I became a parent, I was overwhelmed and stressed with everything. My son had a tongue tie and wasn’t latching well and even though I was a pediatric emergency room nurse, I felt like everything was a challenge.
When my husband and I finally adjusted to everything, he turned 1 month old and became colicky and would spit up every time he ate. As two very exhausted parents barely hanging on to our sanity, we turned to using a swing. It helped soothe him and rocked him to sleep. Our Mamaroo was our saving grace and helped us get through many rough days and nights. It also kept him more upright so he didn’t throw up everything he ate.
At about 4 months old, he got 4 teeth coming in all in 1 week and this swing is what helped calm him. Instead of screaming and crying and chewing on toys, he had some quiet moments of rest because of it. We also used my mom’s Graco swing to help calm him at her house.
When my other son was born, he too wanted to be in constant motion while asleep. We used our Mamaroo infant swing daily. We also bought a Fisher Price swing to keep downstairs to help soothe him as well. With an active and loud toddler in the house, this is the only way he would sleep during naps.
I spent hundreds of hours researching different swings before and after having both of my sons so that I could have the best resource to use. My parents also bought one, so I know how helpful different kinds can be and also some negatives aspects of them. I also know what the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends and what the medical world thinks as a nurse in this field. I am here to offer some advice and help others choose the best swing for their baby.
Here at Infant Swings, our goal is to review some of the best swings available to help you choose which one would fit your baby.
